ARTS D001A-01Z: Introduction to the Visual Arts

DescriptionThis course explores visual imagery throughout the world, for the purpose of refining visual literacy skills. Works of art will be studied by means of formal analysis and medium, the social experiences of artists, the function of works of art in their original environment, and comparison of works from different cultures. The primary emphasis will be on paintings, graphic works, and sculpture.

ARTS-001A-01Z: This is an online class with SOME scheduled meetings as noted in the class syllabus. The rest of the class can be completed independently each week on the student's own time. Students must have access to a computer, the internet and an individual email address. Most De Anza classes will use the Canvas course management system.
